Pilgrim's Progress

In the first week of June 2012 I undertook one of the most difficult journey of my life- partly by foot and partly by human carrier or Kandi as known in the local dialect. I visited the shrine of Shri Hemkunt Sahib situated in the difficult mountaineous trail situated in Shivalik hills in Garwhal region of Uttrakhand State. During the journey several phases suggested different phases of life. Sometimes there was ascent in the trail which suggested difficult periods in life which can only be overcome by patience and faith. Sometimes the trail was level which was quite a relief particularly after the ascent that signified a sense of achievement and relief at overcoming the problems encountered by life; and other times the path went down that gave not only relief but joy too at the sense of achievement and considering it as a reward for the hard work in the earlier phase of life. But the ultimate feeling came when the target was achieved and your destination is just in front of you reminding you of all the hard work put by you in the past and over coming all the hurdles with patience and complete faith. This is the ultimate reward for all the labour put by you throughout your life.
